4 Methods of  Flooring Installation

The type of flooring you selected we will determine your flooring installation option.  You will also need to take the subfloor into consideration. If your current subfloor is concrete, you will only be able to install engineered flooring, not solid hardwood.
Engineered is actually produced with three to five layers of hardwood. Engineered products are made with either a plywood core or a high-density fiberboard core.
Solid, like it sounds, is milled from a single 3/4″ thick piece of hardwood.

Stapling Down

Staples versus cleats to attach tongue and groove engineered or solid wood flooring to the subfloor.

Perfect For Houses

A pneumatic nailing gun is used to drive the staple into the wood flooring and subfloor.

Nail Down

For wood flooring, however on some flooring nailer models there are adapters plates available for the base of the manual flooring nailer or the pneumatic nailing gun.

For solid wood flooring

Solid wood flooring should only be installed on wooden subfloors on or above grade.

Glue Down

The adhesive is spread on the subfloor with the proper sized trowel to adhere the wood flooring to the subfloor. Engineered wood floors and parquets can be glued down.

Advice

Not using the manufacturers recommended adhesive and trowel size may void any warranties you may have with the flooring.

Floating

With the floating installation method the engineered wood floor is not mechanically fastened to any part of the subfloor a bead of recommended wood glue is applied in the groove of each plank to glue the planks together.

Most all engineered floors can be floated.

Please consult the engineered manufacturers installation instructions to see if your flooring can be floated.
